At home and at the office

Joanna sucking down a bottle! We like to give her a bottle or two a week so she doesn't forget that she really does like to drink milk that way, too.

Joanna at the church with Janel. Janel has to have a "baby-fix" about once a week!

Joanna LOVES these little bugs that hang on her carseat. We leave one in the diaper bag for on-the-go distraction and fun. This one's name is Glenda.

Today, all the support staff (except Jessica) went to the Woodlands to have lunch at Annual Conference. (And when I say lunch, I mean half the day.) Which means that Joanna and I caught the phones in the big office for part of that time. She had fun playing on the floor, while I answered phones and looked things up and said, "No, she's not here, can I transfer you to her voicemail?"

This is a picture of pure joy. Joanna likes to fly, and that's all there is to it. I believe I actually heard a giggle from her during all of this. Unfortunately, we were doing all of this "winding-up" activity at about 8pm when we should have been "winding-down." Oops! Note to self: just because it's fun and it makes Joanna happy doesn't mean it's a bedtime activity.

I am Joanna

My mommy and daddy have finally realized that I like to sit up and look around at things. Sometimes I like to be on my back, and sometimes I like to be on my tummy, but sometimes I just need to sit up. I have to use pillows now so I don't fall, but before too long, I'll be able to sit on my own!

Last night I took my parents out to Fuddrucker's. I was pretty tired, so I actually slept in my carseat through most of their meal. I figured they needed some time to themselves to chat. I woke up when they were finishing up, but I entertained myself by looking at my friends Gus and Ginger that hang on my carseat. We went home after that so I could have my dinner.

Here I am playing on the floor of Mommy's office. It may not sound like much fun, but I like to look at my mom while she works. I have a pretty good view from here. Speaking of work, I got to go to my first staff meeting today. Usually, my Mamma comes and hangs out with me while Mommy goes to the meeting, but Mamma was out of town today. So I got to go to the meeting and see what all this staff business is about. Mommy says there weren't as many people as usual there because lots of people were at Annual Conference (whatever that is). I think some people were worried that I would be a distraction in the meeting, but I behaved just perfectly if I do say so myself!

More baby stuff

Just FYI -- Matt knows how to take off and put back on the carseat cover, and he's pretty good at it.
Isn't she precious?!

Baby stuff

Daddy and Joanna playing and talking.

We decided to leave Joanna in the nursery at church this morning, and to start doing it regularly, so she has other people to hang out with! This morning wasn't exactly like leaving her though, because Gran was working and held on to her. It's a nice transition for Mommy.

I think Joanna is now officially rolling front to back (or front to side, then side to back), but she can't do it all the time. She works VERY hard at it, and sometimes succeeds. In the above picture, she rolled from her tummy to her side, then after some scooting around, managed to get all the way onto her back (below).
She's a hard worker and it frustrates her when her arm gets in the way and she can't make it over. She squirms her little bottom and legs, but sometimes her upper body just won't cooperate!

Mowing the lawn and drool

If you look closely, you can see a stream of drool headed toward the playmat. Joanna does pretty good these days on her tummy for a few minutes. She's trying very hard to roll over. She has actually managed to do it once, but I think it was an fluke. It scared her, and she cried.

Take a look at the new beautiful mower -- never been used! Matt got out this morning to mow and finished up just minutes before the downpour!

This is Daddy mowing the lawn.

Sleeping

I had to post this, because little Miss Joanna is 5 minutes into her 3rd nap of the day NOT in my arms. And those of you who know Joanna know I'm having a party in my head right now. For each nap I've had to put her to sleep in my arms and then lay her down in her stroller, but she has stayed asleep for about 45 each time. Now, of course this could be a fluke day, but she could also be growing and better able to sleep away from her mommy. I'm hoping for the latter!

And she's up. Well, 10 minutes is nothing to sneeze at.

Three Months

I tried to post this yesterday, when Joanna was exactly three months old, but either it or I was having technical difficulties with the photos. So, here we go again...

She kind of chews her thumb more than sucking it, but...

Part of me feels like I can't believe that Joanna is already 3 months old. The other part of me can barely imagine a time before her! Miss Joanna has been a bit cranky the past couple of days, but she LOVES laying on her changing table. So Matt and I took that opportunity yesterday to try on about a dozen outfits on Joanna to see where she is in the clothes she hasn't worn yet. It is amazing how 3 month clothes can be such different sizes depending on who makes them. We ended up with several outfits in the "can wear now" section of the closet next to her newborn clothes which ALL still fit. It's fun to go shopping in your own home!

Standing up with Daddy.
