Joanna’s First Bike Ride

Is she too cute or what?!

Getting started on the driveway.

Decided the street is flatter and a better place to ride.

Getting going.

Still working on turning, but going forward well!

She rode and rode and rode!

Matt took her up and down the street some so she could really go in a straight line for a while.  She can turn, but I think she has to think about it pretty hard still.  :)

After Natalie woke up she got in on the action.  Well, the sitting anyway.  Her legs are too short for the big wheel yet.  We brought out the cozy coupe, and she sat in it for a while.  She didn’t want to go anywhere; she just wanted to sit in the car in the sunshine.

I have no idea what this face is about, but I love it!  You can see Mamma in the background.  She came over to see the big girl in action!

Matt got out his bicycle and aired up the tires.  And no, of course he’s not riding without a helmet.  He’s posing for this picture until I could find his helmet.  :)

I did a little circle on the bicycle as well.  It’s a man’s bike and awfully tall, so it wasn’t particularly comfortable.  My MIL said I could borrow hers.  So I might.

Joanna LOVED riding her bicycle.  And this weather has been just perfect for it.  It’s a little hard for me to be out with four little ones and helping a new rider, but the evenings are light enough that I think she’ll be able to get out with Matt some even during the week.

Tennis Pro!

Isn't she just about the cutest thing you've ever seen in your whole life? There's a tennis camp at the church this week for Joanna's age. I was so excited about this; there's very little programming for this age, especially where you can leave the kiddos! I wasn't necessarily thinking that she's got some crazy aptitude for tennis, but they're doing other things as well (Bible stories, crafts), and I figured it would be a good intro to sports! Yesterday when I was talking to Joanna about the tennis camp, she got very excited and told me, "Yeah, I get to kick a baseball!" So she sort of got it, right?

I had a meeting at the same time as the camp today, so I took Natalie over to Lisa's house and swapped her for Anna. I brought both big girls to camp. Tomorrow I get to watch the little ones while Lisa takes the big girls to camp!

After my meeting, I snuck over to the old Youth Lounge which is off the gym to spy on the class without Joanna seeing me. I took a little video. Right before this, they'd been using balloons to toss for the kids to hit over the net. Before Joanna got a turn with the balloon they switched to balls, which you can see she wasn't quite ready for (they fall too fast!), but I just love her "form." She's so cute!

...okay, it looks like the video isn't happening right now. If I feel like it, I'll try again another time. For now, I'm off to bed...

I also got to watch her wander around and practice her "selective deafness" on her teachers. I wondered if she only did that for me. Little toot. :)

Joanna had a pretty long day today and was tuckered out this evening. We were all going to go to Home Group together, especially since it was close by, but both girls were just falling apart that I wanted them to go to bed!
