Yesterday morning my sweet not-a-baby-anymore James turned three. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I sure am thankful there are “replacement” babies on the way or I’d be a mess about my baby being three years old. :)
James got a card in the mail earlier in the week from Nana and Popo, and we opened it up first thing on Friday.
It sure is wonderful to have a big sister who can read!
We went over to Gran and Grandpa David’s house for lunch, and they gave him a big Tonka truck for his birthday! David was taking pictures, so I’ll do another post when I steal those from him. :)
In the afternoon I took James out in the backyard for some official three year old pictures.
The kid really has no personality. It’s too bad.
He’s telling me what his shirt says here.
Making faces at the bigger sis.
This might be the money shot right here:
He is so entertaining to me. :)
Just as we finished up, Mamma and Pop stopped by with a cookie cake!
We did some posing by the cake but then decided to try and wait for Daddy to actually dig in.
Smelling the icing. :)
Then we all went to sit in the living room, and James discovered he could get some icing off the lid of the cake thing – YUM!
A little entertainment from James. I believe he’s marching “in the Lord’s Army, yes sir” or something very similar.
For real cake time!
Getting to lick the candle.
Gooooooooooood stuff!
Then it was present time!
For the record, James’ loot analysis:
- Colin the crane from Momma and Daddy
- Victor the train from Natalie
- a Thomas the Train book with lots of great stories from Joanna
It was nice to just shop the closet for things I’d gathered through the year for my train-loving boy.
- Mamma and Pop got James Hiro and Diesel 10. He’s is so excited about all his new trains!
- Lisa stopped by with Firefighter and Police Officer dress-up from the Vandenberges. He sure is a spoiled rotten boy!
- Mom and David got him a big Tonka truck, which I think is also going to work well as a place to take newborn pictures of the brothers. :)
We got to go to Grandma’s for enchilada night on James’ birthday. He loved being surrounded by family for his birthday!
A couple of (terribly lit, but I can only control so much you know) snuggly pictures with my BIG BOY!
James is such an amazing kid and a wonderful brother and son. We are SO HAPPY God made him and let him be a part of our family. I can’t imagine life without my sweet boy!
Happy birthday my Jamesie Boy – we love you!!
