Totally worth the possibility they might wake up

Saturday

I like Saturdays.  Sometimes on Saturdays, I get to sleep in.  This was one of those Saturdays.  Ahhhhh…

So it was a little while before we managed to get dressed and out the door for our errands, but we did!

First we hit Target and picked up a Thermos cup (among other things) for Joanna’s water at school.  We were also hoping to go ahead and get our new sit-in-stand/double stroller, but they didn’t have it in.  Oh well; we have time! 

Then we hit “chic-a-lay” because everyone was grumpy and it didn’t make sense to drive all the way home to eat when we still had shopping in the big town of Atascocita to do.

We love Chic-fil-a.  :)

Then we hit Lowe’s for some odds and ends.

We’d hoped to hit the grocery store, but it just didn’t happen.  I over did it with the little we did do.  It’s sad that walking around a couple of (admittedly large) stores is all I can manage.  I actually had to sit down on a curb in the parking lot and wait for Matt to come get me at Lowe’s!  We were farther from the car that I’d thought.  My back essentially clenched up, and I couldn’t keep walking.  Have I mentioned that I’m finding all the Braxton Hicks contractions annoying?  Because I am.  And frankly, I’m tired of all the trips to the potty.  Okay, done complaining now!  I really do love being pregnant, and I’m feeling overall very good and very happy to be growing a person!

Anyway so we came home, and (after a little back-rub to get me on my feet) we got some chores done and rest time for all the girls.  Natalie’s the only one who actually slept, but it’s something!

At some point I caught this cutie reading the bible in our new mudroom.  It was out there so we’d remember to bring it back to the library.

I worked pretty hard after dinner, so I’m looking forward to an evening of watching Fringe on DVD with Matt and hopefully getting a big ‘ol stinkin’ back rub!

Playday Day!

We got to go over to our friend Aiden and Seth’s house for playday this morning!  It was pouring down rain we we were leaving, but you know what?  I can park in the garage now!!!!!!!!!!!!  And my wonderful friend Kimberly called while I was on the way to tell me she’d opened her garage so I could park inside!  Wow!

Right before we left I had to take a picture of my precious children.  :)

It only lasted a few minutes, but Natalie looks so cute in her little handkerchief!

I didn’t take many pictures, but Joanna was “playing” the guitar so I snapped this one.

And Joanna took this next picture!  Her aim is getting much better – it’s a pretty cool action shot!

From useless stuff to pillow cases!

Among the things my mom made for the crib is this pillow case.

Well, one of the things that makes Natalie actually want to sleep in her bed is the little pillow.  My mom gave it to her one night, and she loves putting her little head on it!  See?

And as precious as I think that is, it bugs me that it doesn’t match her bedding.  :)  I know – silly.

So I got to thinking about if my mom could make a little pillowcase that would match Natalie’s bedding.  We have the bedskirt and bumper pad, but I hate to cannibalize them if we want to use or pass along the whole bedding set.  So I thought about trying to find some fabric that matched, but then I remembered that I have the valance and the diaper stacker that came with the bedding set.  I didn’t take pictures of mine, but you can see them in this photo of the whole “Mulberry” line.  The valance isn’t long enough for our window, and I like what we have better anyway, and the diaper stacker – c’mon that’s totally useless!  (Okay, maybe there are people out there who use theirs, I just never have!)

So I gave them to my mom, and she came back (I’m not kidding, like two hours later) with these!

Baby Josie

My friend Amy had her second baby girl yesterday: Josie Kate.  I waffled about going up to the hospital to see them.  I know she’s got tons of family and friends around, and I bet she needed rest and quietness too.  I did really want to go visit though.  Then this evening my girls were making those kinds of sounds where you want to rip your ears off, and I decided: I’m going to go see a newborn!  So I left the girls with Matt and just popped in on Amy – sorry, and thanks for not minding!

This baby is SO CUTE!  She has such tiny, perfect features, and she looks a lot like her big sister, I think.

Look at her tiny little foot resting on my belly!  Maybe she knows there’s a future boyfriend in there, and she’s showing him who’s boss!

It felt kind of strange to walk into the maternity wing… and then back out.  :)

Well Beasleys, you guys do good work, and I can’t wait for some playdays with our girls!!

There is one thing I know for sure today.

For the first three or so months of his life, Baby Brother will not be naked.  Nor may he even need to wear the same thing twice.  :)

These boxes the girls are drumming on are full of Newborn and 0-3 month clothes.  I have a wonderful friend with THREE boys who passed along these clothes for the little man!

Natalie started going through them right away!

I was feeling pretty emotional as I sorted through all these baby clothes.  Here’s the first one that made me tear up a little:

I started thinking about how he’ll be with us for Christmas, and the little romper was so soft I lay my head down on it.

Then this simple onesie made me stop as well.  I petted it for awhile; I’m not sure why.

Then I found a bunch of newborn gowns (which I am WILD about!), and they made me feel so excited about seeing him sleeping in his bed and changing his diaper during the night (not a lot though).

I don’t wish he would come early or anything, but I am really really excited about meeting this new member of our family.  I think my pregnancy ticker says “46 days left.  That is just not very long.  Now we all know it could be a little longer (or shorter maybe!), but it won’t be long before we’ll start buying perishables that expire on his due date!

Meet and Greet

Sadly I took no pictures today so this is a text-only post.  Oh well.

We headed up to the church today to meet the girls’ new teachers and see their classrooms.  First stop was Miss Patti and Miss Shawna, Joanna’s new teachers.  The girls just played and played and played in there!  Most of the other kiddos will be new friends for Joanna, although at least a couple have been in her class before.  Best Buddy Anna will be in school with her, of course!  I can’t send any nuts to school, but that’s not really an issue for us, thankfully.  Joanna has never liked peanut butter, and I’ll just pay attention to the other things I send for snack and lunch.  Joanna’s a pretty nut-free girl just by coincidence.  She’s supposed to bring a water bottle everyday, so we’re going to get a thermos one just for her that’s insulated; she’s excited about picking it out.  For now, she’ll use Miss Natalie’s straw cup.  This is her first year as an official preschooler – I’m so excited!  She finally doesn’t have to take a nap, which is wonderful since it’s been about a year and half since she’s taken a nap at school anyway!  This way she’ll have fun activities the whole day, instead of having to be still and quiet for an hour and a half!

We stopped in to Natalie’s class next, with Miss Anne and Miss Joan.  Joanna had them a couple of years ago, and I love them!  They feed the kids snack everyday so I don’t have to pack one (yay!), and they keep cups for the kiddos to fill with water everyday.  Man, those little things take a lot of work out of my morning!  Now I just have to think of a snack each day for Joanna.  I can’t send peanut butter for Natalie, and that does make me sad!  However, I bought some sunflower seed spread this week, and Natalie likes it with her jam just fine.  It’s more expensive, but she’ll be the only one eating it – should last awhile.  I’m very excited to say that Miss Anne and Miss Joan said they’d try the cloth diapers for Natalie!  I brought one of the pocket ones to show them, and they didn’t seem to scared.  All I could hope for is that they’ll try it out!  Obviously if it makes their day miserable, I don’t want that!

I am so excited for school to start for the girls.  I’m just sure they will both enjoy it so much.  As will I, of course!  My hope is that they’ll be able to stay healthy most of the time.  They just haven’t been sick at all this summer, and it’s been lovely.  Although they also haven’t had any school to miss!
