Easter Sunday

I left my sad little recovering family at home this morning so I could go work in the nursery.  They were expecting bunches of babies, and I’d already offered to work; I didn’t want to back out!  I’m sure they would have done just fine without me, but I’m very glad I was there – I got to hold a little bitty one!  Matt was wonderful to stay at home with the girls.  Thankfully, they really seemed fine, so they were able to just relax and be together.

I stopped by the flower cross and saw my other set of daughters, Anna and Emma.  :)  I decided to take a quick picture of Anna so I could show Joanna at home.

 

Back at home, I gave the girls a light lunch of applesauce and toast (gotta love the BRAT diet!).  Joanna also got a piece of donut that I brought home for Matt.  :)

We decided after naptime to get the girls dressed in their Easter dresses and go back up to the church to take pictures of them in front of the flower cross.  Love this cheeseball smile!

The children of KUMC did a beautiful job decorating the cross this morning!

We’re pretty sad we missed the 8:30 service this morning.  It’s something I look forward to all year as the Chancel is redressed after being stripped on Thursday.

The girls seemed pretty much back to normal this evening, except for their appetites.  They just picked at dinner (but did mooch off of me later).  I’m sure it will pick up in the next day or so. 

Thankfully, Matt had already planned to take off work tomorrow (phew!) so he’ll be home with us!  Yay!

I have a doctor’s appointment in the morning that I think I’m just going to run to by myself instead of bringing the family.  It should be a quick visit for 12 weeks, and I’m going to meet with the billing department afterward.  I will do a 12 week post after the appointment.

Easter 2010

We'll be staying in. :(
Last night about 6 or so Joanna started throwing up.
A little after 11pm Natalie joined her.
Joanna threw up several times, sleeping in-between.
Natalie only threw up twice, and it scared her. :(
Shortly after midnight they were done for the night, and we all got to sleep.
I was thinking they'd sleep late, but that was not the case.
They're all in much better spirits this morning.
I gave them some ice chips and tiny pieces of toast.
We're waiting now.
And watching Godspell on TV.
They LOVE ice chips!
We're thinking we may try to sneak up to the church later (after church) and see the flower cross all decorated and take pictures.
The girls' Easter dresses will debut in public next week. :)

Saturday, part 2

Matt’s mom and dad’s long-time neighbor and friend passed away last week, and the neighbors and friends got together for a wake this afternoon. Including… a roasted pig! I’m not sure I’ve seen anything quite so interesting and kind of gross. It sure was tasty! The girls ate and played and ate and played. It was nice. The girls enjoyed playing with these neighbor kiddos. This family has four – two boys and two girls. Here are the youngest and oldest. Sweet sweet kids!

Mamma and Pop’s neighbor Glenda takes such good care of the girls and gave them little Easter buckets. Aren’t they precious?!

The candy was a BIG hit, of course, and we’re rationing it (or trying, anyway!).

I even let Natalie have a marshmallow chick.

She was a fan. :)

Saturday, part 1

Natalie had a little nap this morning before we headed to the church for the Easter egg hunt.  I went into the room before she woke up to grab clothes for the girls and saw this!  How cute is she?! Natalie loved carrying around the giraffe basket! Daddy and Joanna, sharing the load of the eggs we brought.  Ours had stickers in them. Sweet cheesy smile. Good daddy.  I see him holding a couple of purses someday.  :)

I love this look on her face as she’s listening to someone talk to her. Joanna got a butterfly painted on her face. She sat soooo still and enjoyed getting her face painted.

It turned out so pretty!

Unfortunately, they started the egg hunt while she was having her face painted, so Joanna missed most of the eggs. 

She did manage to scrounge a few, though!

Natalie found a couple of eggs, then sat down to open and shut them. I’m not sure what this face is about, but it’s cute!  

We headed over to Mamma and Pop’s after the hunt.  Post to come!

Dinner

We did breakfast for dinner tonight. I cooked bacon, fried eggs, hash browns, and these blueberry muffins. I just wanted a simple muffin recipe that included ingredients I already had. :) I think the last time I made blueberry muffins, I used a mix (ah!) so I didn't have a "go-to" recipe. Anybody have one they want to share? I may do these again, mainly because my girls LOVED them, and they're really pretty healthy. I took the recomendations written into the recipe, including leaving out the salt and using applesauce for half the oil amount. I also only used 1 tsp of cinnamon since I'm not much of a cinnamon girl. It seemed like a lot to me. I also only had about 2/3 cup of blueberries in the freezer, but it worked okay. I didn't love them, but I did mention that I'm used to blueberry muffin mixes, right? Those aren't even really food, just yummy junky goodness. :) Sadly, Natalie doesn't like eggs or hash browns. :( But she ate fruit and muffins -- dinner of champions! Joanna went to town on everything. Yummy!

Maundy Thursday

Honestly, if Sola Gratia hadn't been singing tonight, I wouldn't have dragged myself up to the church for the service. I'm so thankful we were singing. I was so tired and sick, but Holy Week just isn't the same without the stuff in the middle. If you just show up on Palm Sunday and then again on Easter, you miss the whole story. Tonight we heard and sang about Christ's last supper with his disciples and how he washed their feet. Tomorrow night the choir will present The Crucifixion, which tells the story of the Passion.
I think Matt will end up going tomorrow night while I stay home with the girls. They are still recovering from staying up late on Monday night. They've kind of been bears all week, and I just don't want to mess with their schedule. We'll see. Poor Natalie went to bed two hours late Monday night and woke up one hour early on Tuesday. Ick! Then she didn't get to have a morning nap on Tuesday or Wednesday because we were up at the church. Finally, today, she got two good naps at home with her Gran. Matt said the girls both went down very easily tonight as well. Maybe they're back to "normal" finally!
If you're reading this and thinking about going to church on Friday night -- do it! It really adds an important touch to the week. I think it's really important to try and experience Holy Week, as many aspects as you can. And there's nursery for the kids. :)

Fruits of my Labor

Man it's been a busy work week. I'm pooped. But take a look at all this printing I did!

I had lots of help from my peeps up at church getting this all proofed and printed. I was worried there just weren't going to be enough hours in the day this week to print everything. But there were! Yay! But man oh man I worked a TON more than usual this week. And I feel it. Too bad I'm not paid by the hour. Just sayin'.
