Homemade Hummus
Ingredients
1 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and rinsed
1 clove garlic (or more to taste)
1 heaping Tablespoon tahini (ground sesame paste)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice
little water for consistency
Combine all ingredients in food processor and blend until smooth. Add water as needed for consistency. If you don’t have a food processor (like I don’t), you’ll have to work a little harder. :) I was able to make my Magic Bullet do the job, but couldn’t get the blender to work at all. You might be able to make it work by adding more water or maybe if you have a better blender than I do. :)
Serve with crackers, carrots, whatever!
I decided I wanted to make some hummus the other day so I hunted online for a recipe. I wasn’t finding much consistency in the recipes I found, so I called my dad. I remember him making hummus a lot when we were growing up. He said he had just made a batch the day or so before so the recipe was fresh on his mind. He actually said to use three cloves of garlic, but that was too much for me. The first batch I made I used two (they were big) and it was very garlicky. The batch I made today with just one clove tasted better, I think. It still seems more garlicky than I remember from my childhood, but who knows. It’s very yummy and packed full of good stuff! The best thing? Joanna likes it!
