I have been keeping up with what pictures I want to post as I upload them, so there will be some “catch up” posts in the future with whatever details I manage to remember. :)
These are all from this week. I expect to be working on this post in spare seconds for approximately nine years. :)
The kids looooooooooooove holding their brothers.
A friend loaned the pillow you can kind of see in the above picture, and it has been a lifesaver for tandem nursing. It’s a pregnancy body pillow, and I can wrap it all the way around me and hold a boy in the football position on either side.
The boys are nursing very well, but I’m not as comfortable as I could be. We met with a lactation consultant last week, and she helped with a lot of things. I’m still hurting when they latch and sometimes through the feeding because they don’t have the very best latches. It’s very hard to position them though with my complete lack of hands. Twins should totally come with a temporary retractable extra hand.
On Monday my mom and I took the boys on their first outing to the pediatrician’s office. My hand still hurts from the mountain (times two!) of paperwork. I dressed them in their Twin Baby A and Twin Baby B onesies from my friend Kathy. I figured it couldn’t hurt to label them. :)
This is the only picture I took.
They overall checked out great. They’d each dropped a little weight, which is totally normal and were doing fine. Both were jaundiced, Michael enough that Dr. Harper ordered us to the lab for a heal stick. It was an extremely long afternoon; we were gone from 12:30 until almost 6pm. I was completely worn out.
On Tuesday when the boys were one week old, I had my mom take this picture:
I wanted to kind of hold them where they’d been for the past nine months, though I opted not to hold them upside down. And I promise I was never ever in danger of dropping them on the ground. And for the record I weigh 34lbs less this week than I did last week. Goodness!
I really thought I’d be able to “do” some newborn pics of the boys myself, but I was crazy!! So they’re not getting anything fancier than their sisters did, except that the pictures I do manage to take are of better quality.
My mom has helped me several nights by coming over at my bedtime so I can sleep while she fusses with the babies. She sometimes gets some sleep, and I think she’s better able to catch a few minutes here or there than I am. I really need to be in my bed. It has been a huge help to me, and I know things wouldn’t be going very well right now without her help. She officially goes back to work this weekend, so this kind of help won’t continue for long, but I’m in much better shape now than I was a week ago. That’s for sure! Thank you Momma!!
I'm coming back on the 12th to pick up the slack when your mom heads back to work. I would have been there sooner but josh and Julie needed a sitter on the 12th.
