Resting

I think all that work I did last week just wore me out. That's what happens to me, though. I work well under stress and pressure, but lately my immune system really takes a hit when things are crazier than normal. So today I'm taking a day off. It's practically my second day off in a row! Yesterday Matt took a day off of work so we could all just hang out. I think the plan was to maybe go do something or get things done at home. What actually happened is that Matt pretty much took care of the kids and I rested a bunch. My throat started hurting Sunday evening and is still going strong. :) I'm nearly positive it's just drainage that has caused my tonsils to swell and be very painful. I've been taking tylenol and gargling salt water. I think that's pretty much all I can do. The tylenol takes the barest edge off the pain, but makes it so I don't have to cry when I swallow. Last night was the worst. I went to bed early, but had so much trouble sleeping I found myself up at about 1:30. I got something to eat so I could take more tylenol, then I cleaned up my kitchen a little and made the girls' lunches for school today. All that thankfully made me tired enough that I fell back asleep sometime before 3am. I woke up to Miss Joanna coming to snuggle with me at 7am. This morning was backwards because my early riser, Natalie, slept until 7:45!!! Whoo hoo! Frankly, Joanna is just much easier to take care of in the morning than Natalie, so I was thankful for that rare Mommy/Joanna time.
I got some more fun "over the toilet" time this morning. Thankfully, Natalie was playing in the other room, but Joanna came in to take care of me. That girl could be a nurse or something for sure. She's so caring! She brought me wipes and patted my back.
Because of all that early morning prep and Natalie sleeping in, we made it to school on time and I gratefully dropped the girls off with their wonderful teachers.
I checked in with my peeps at work and decided they could handle worship planning without me today. Patrick and Gary graciously offered to email me the information so I could come home and rest. So I did. And I am.
First I swept the dining room cause it was really gross. But that made me tired and nauseous so I'm sitting now.
This is my first whole real live day off by myself at home... I think, maybe... ever. Wow.
And it's enchilada night. I sure do love my Grandma.
My dining room floor will stay crumb-free until tomorrow. Probably. There's at least a fighting chance.

Oh, and on an aside... How cute is this? It's a slipcover for those ugly file crates. I have a ton of these, and if I ever manage to learn to sew, this would make them very cute storage for the playroom.

  1. Oh girlie- I hope you feel better soon. If you have any peroxide or listerine that can be good to gargle with too. I like hot salt water for drainage but the stronger stuff if an infection has set in. Please, please, seriously ask for the enchilada recipe. Who am I kidding, by dinner time you will totally forget I know! ;)
