My mom brought home a turtle yesterday. She found it in the road and wanted to show Joanna. We've got quite the menagerie around here. We set it free in the backyard and haven't seen from it since.
Joanna thought it was very cool that the turtle lived inside there.
This is my eye after church yesterday:
Check it out without 17 layers of make-up:
Yes, I got a zillion questions at church. Which is good because you know people care about you! We decided to visit a Sunday School class yesterday. We knew most of the people, but everybody else was probably a litte curious about us... oh well! There was a concert at church last night (which was wonderful, by the way), and I discovered I'm not the only recient recipient of a black eye from a 2 year old! Our music director's wife got clocked with a toy truck by her granddaughter while changing her diaper. We got to compare battle wounds :).
I had envisioned an old-fashioned clothes-line along my back fence, but we ended up with this, and it's great! I was worried the clothes wouldn't get dry being sort of stacked like this or that it wouldn't be enough space. My first couple of times to use it, though, it's been just perfect. We were going to mount it back where it's sunnier, but just sort of stuck it here where there was already a pole in the ground. I like it here; I can walk out on the deck barefoot if I want and hang laundry. It also spins so I can stand in one place and fill it up. The clothes dry so quickly! There are a few things I think I'll still end up drying in the dryer, but most of our stuff will dry outside nicely! And of course there will be those days when I need clean/dry clothes and it rains and rains and rains. I'll use my dryer then, too.
Cute, huh?
Joanna hasn't been sleeping well lately. It's partly our fault, with schedules, but partly her onery-ness. Anyway, she went down last night at probably 8:30 or 9:00, I'm thinking (which has been pretty standard lately with it being so light outside) and slept until 9:15!!! She was sooooooo beat. Unfortunately she did not have a nap today. She did have a scream fest, though. Whoo hoo. Yesterday instead of napping she peed on her floor. Lovely. I really love that kid, carpet stains and all. Natalie slept until 8:30 this morning. It was a really nice start to our day. Combined with doing laundry outside and a quick fun trip to the grocery store, it was a really nice day and I felt sort of productive... and rested.
At this point it barely hurts and I'm forgetting it's there until someone reminds me or looks at me funny.
Here is my most recent effort at being green:
