Wednesday

I decided to take Natalie to the doctor today.  She’d developed these terrible looking sores on her bottom that weren’t getting better.  I was able to leave Joanna with Gran, so Natalie and I had a date!  We’d have had fun with Joanna along of course, but I very rarely get alone Natalie time.  It was nice.  Anyway, her little sores are infected so Dr. Harper prescribed both cream and oral antibiotics which will hopefully clear it right up.  He also recommended using an antibacterial soap (like heavy-duty stuff from the pharmacy) for cleaning down there a couple of times a day.  We started all of those things this evening so hopefully she’ll be feeling better soon!

The girls and I were thinking of going outside after we got home, but I decided to make a trip to Lowe’s for some play sand instead.  They’re missing their water table (a little too chilly these days!), and even I’m finding it delightful outside, so I wanted to fill the table up with sand.  I discovered I can get 50lb bags of sand into the shopping cart by using gravity and from the car into the girls’ wagon by sliding, but I had to have help getting them from the cart to the car.  We didn’t break ‘em out until Matt got home, so he was able to fill the table for us.

They love their new sand table!!  I knew they would seeing as how they usually love to sit in one of the many dirt spots in the yard and play there!  And they always come home from school with their shoes full of sand.

A few days ago (the day I decided it’d be fun to do yard work while 9 months pregnant), Joanna came in after playing just covered in a rash.  I don’t really know exactly what it was, but it’s what I call my “nature rash.”  It was totally gone the next morning and didn’t really bother her much, but it seems she’s pretty sensitive (like I am) to grass and plants and stuff (at least after rolling around in them!).  So I decided I needed to be better about outfitting the girls for playing in the yard.  They’ve been living in dresses the last several months, and I’m planning for the fall to be the same, but I pulled out jeans and shirts for each of them to be “backyard clothes.”  I’m going to keep them by the back door and they can wear them when we go out to play; shake ‘em out; and wear them again.  When they’re good and grody, I’ll wash them.

Loving these smiles from Natalie!

Matt grilled chicken outside, and then suggested we eat on the back porch.  You’ll have to pretend you can see Matt sitting in the empty spot.

It was fun, and it kept my dining room clean(er)!

  1. Getting sand for our water table is on my to-do list, too! Great minds think alike! I'm in love with this weather as well. We've eaten a ton of meals outside...so nice! You're going to need another chair out there soon:)

  2. Yes, we are big proponents of the jeans under our skirts and dresses around here. Sometimes you just want to wear jeans but I'm too lazy to change out the whole outfit! I am thankful that we can choose to wear dresses (something I mean to blog about at some point, why I believe in this) but also get to wear jeans too. Girls have all the choices!
