21 Weeks

21 weeks

How Your Baby’s Growing (from Babycenter.com):

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — about the size of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

How far along: 21 weeks

Pregnancy symptoms: headaches (much less often thankfully!), tiredness, body aches, heartburn

Food Cravings: chocolate, snow cones, fresh fruit, cereal, glazed donuts {sweets much?!!}

Food Aversions: I haven’t had much in the way of aversions lately – wahoo!  I’ll keep this category just in case something crops up.

Sleep: I had a few good nights, but last night was awful.  It’s sad that one bad night of sleep can leave me just so exhausted.

Measurement:  I think I may skip measuring this week.  I am huge though.  :)

Movement: A little more than last week.  Joanna actually got to feel Baby B!

Labor signs: Occasional Braxton Hicks

What I miss: I’m not loving the tired and sore, but I will happily take it.  :)

What I’m looking forward to: Ummmm… I guess just more nesting, though my energy is waning a bit for that!

Milestone: I worked on a baby registry at Amazon, and it was fun to pick out things for the boys.  We really don’t need much, but a few extra things here and there will be helpful.  And it’s good to have a place to “put” ideas I get without having to write them down or anything.  It was a pretty weird feeling to change the quantity to “2” after I added an infant car seat to the list.  That’s a first for sure!

Thoughts from the children: I love how supportive and helpful they are.

Doctor’s visit: I’ll have another at 24 weeks. It’s currently scheduled for Friday, which will make it almost 5 weeks in-between visits.  I may call to see if I can get in the previous Friday instead.  I keep forgetting to do that though.  :)  My doc wasn’t available early in the week.

Other thoughts: I am not thinking of anything right now. :)

Baby-related projects:

  • I’m putting this on the list kind of after the fact: Work on potty training James.  Hallelujah that boy is doing so so well!
  • Clean up/organize the girls’ room to make space for eventual James.
  • Go to IKEA.  Look at and possibly purchase the Kura low loft bed and shallow mattress for the girls.  **I’ve been putting this off since it is logistically hard, but we are ready to get this done!  Did it this weekend – yay!!!
  • Move the majority of the toys into the main living area to make space for sleeping and clothes in the bedrooms. I still need to sort through and organize the books, which are in a giant pile on the floor.
  • Do some research on the best sleeping arrangements for newborn twins.
  • Figure out number of diapers that would be ideal for the babies.
  • Pick out infant car seats.  We haven’t purchased them yet, but we picked ‘em out!
  • Organize James’ closet.  (This is where the not-in-use clothes live as well as a lot of baby things, and it’s a super-pit.)
  • Shop for a king sized bed.  We really really really really want one.  :)  But the logistics and expense may mean this isn’t the best time.
  • Tinker with a baby registry.  We don’t need much, but I have started putting some things on an Amazon registry when I think about them
  • Pull the baby boy clothes from the attic and take inventory.
  • Reconvert the double stroller back to a double stroller from a sit-n-stand.
