Oh what stress!

This day did not start out so good...

I woke up early early this morning (very common in this pregnancy!). I usually can go right back to sleep if I don't wake myself up too much. Well, I was laying there after my trip to the WC, and I noticed the living room was very lit up. This is caused by two things: the computer and some neighbors the next street over. Usually, I tell my computer to "stand by" before I go to bed because it's not very good at doing it on it's own (it is old and dying). Anyway, I'd forgotton, so it was on and lighting up the living room. It was strange because it was on some kind of start up screen, but it went right off when I pushed the power button. I didn't give it too much thought at the time. Also, I usually close the blinds in the dining room before we go to bed because some inconsiderate neighbors behind us have a spotlight attached to the back of their house that I can literally read by in my dining room. Seriously. So I headed back to bed in the darkness, but I was very awake. And I was cold (but good cold). So I snuggled down and waited... and waited... It took about an hour, but I managed to drift back off in the wee hours of the morning. I don't think I'd been asleep long when my husband, who apparantly does not value my sleep quite like I do (I love you, honey!), came in to tell me about my computer. He was worried, I get that, but I almost yelled at him to leave me alone. I was terrified of waking up again and not being able to fall back asleep. I was sooooo tired! Well anyway, long story long, neither he nor I could get the monitor on my laptop to come on. We were pretty sure the computer itself was running -- lights were on and it was making its running sounds -- but we couldn't interface with it. I tried hooking up another monitor to it, but found I didn't know what buttons to press to make it switch to another monitor setting (I now do, thank you.) Because it was an extra busy week with work stuff, I still hadn't done the Media Shouts for Sunday. So, I was really sad that my computer was dead or dying and I had to figure out how to get this work done with out it. However, these are things I was thankful for: 1.) I have an external hard drive that backs up automatically so all my Joanna pictures (and documents and whatever) were copied safe and sound. 2.) My mom was home to watch Joanna if needed. 3.) My mom's computer was also home and she offered it for whatever I needed.

I made phone calls to the computer guy who works on the church stuff, people who would be affected by my Media Shout not yet being done, and people I needed information from that I was no longer able to retreive on my computer. Then I headed up to the church (computer in tow just in case) to work on a computer up there to finish the Media Shouts.

This is a really long story and I apologize. It feels good to get it out!

I arrive at the church and run into Mark who teaches me how to hook up the computer to an external monitor (Fn F8 for my computer). So I head off to find an unoccupied office/monitor. I unhooked the monitor in the borrowed office (Thank you, Stephen!), and turned on my computer to get it juicing up. THE SCREEN CAME ON!!! It has been working perfectly fine ALL DAY since then. Phew! I know it's just a matter of time before we have to get a new computer (and I kind of really do want a new one), but it's really really NOT in the budget right now. I am VERY thankful it revived itself. I guess it just needed some rest and a change of scenery.
