Yesterday a couple of forces combined to send us out for a quick dinner. We were hosting Home Group so I’d spent the day cleaning up the house. When it’s clean (or cleanish), I try to keep it that way! I really didn’t want to clean up again after dinner. Also, I’d forgotten to defrost anything so I’d have been winging it anyway.
We didn’t have much time (or much in the “eat out” budget!), so we headed to Wendy’s for a quick, fun family meal. We all got our fast food fix for the week, and I kept my kitchen clean! Whoo hoo!!
As I was getting some ketchup, Miss Natalie climbed into this little cubby where there was a booster chair. She is so stinkin’ cute!!
Tonight we were so so excited to get some brisket from David for dinner! I paired it with corn on the cob and a can of Bush’s baked beans (Matt’s FAVORITE thing to eat that I never buy.) Oh my, the children devoured that meal. They both wanted more meat, and Natalie ate those beans like they were covered in chocolate. Thank you, David. It was SO good! And there may even be enough for a sandwich tomorrow! That is, if I can fight the girls for it. And win.
Tomorrow I guess I’ll have to get back to cooking. Oh, well. :)
This is random, but a few days ago I noticed three buds all in one spot on this rose plant. Mom said I should pop two off, but I forgot. Oops. Then maybe yesterday I noticed the stem was bent, almost broken. The big bud still bloomed!
It didn’t last long; I think it was pretty dead by this afternoon, but I’m still amazed. There was enough left in that stem for a beautiful rose to bloom. Even though I forgot to take off the other buds. Even though the stem was broken. It bloomed. In spite of me.
Our new house has some roses, too. I was really surprised that they were blooming in this heat, but they don't last long. Hopefully, I can catch one still pretty and gets some pictures of them.
