Last Wednesday night (you know, over a WEEK ago now) at children’s choir, we practiced in the Sanctuary for Palm Sunday. The big kids (including Joanna) sang up front while the 3s and 4s waved their (at the time, pretend) Palm Branches and sang.
(Natalie and James had gotten a bath before choir and were already in jammies.) :)
Even though James isn’t technically old enough for my choir, I bring him anyway (‘cause I’m the boss!), and he does so so well. I don’t have a Musikgarten class to teach this semester, and this sort of fills that spot for him. He LOVES going to choir!
And he was SO CUTE “waving” his Palm Branch and singing “Hosanna to the son of David!”
On actual Palm Sunday, Natalie was sick with a stomach bug so I stayed home with her. I wasn’t feeling super myself (may have had the same bug), so Matt really was the better choice to take the “bookends” to church. I sent him with the little camera, and he used it!
At the 9:40 service:
In-between services they went back to the music suite for rehearsal and snack.
At the 11:00 service, they did it again! This time Matt and James joined the procession.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PICTURES OF THAT?!!!! Please please?!
Joanna ended up in a longer robe for the second service – you can barely see her feet!
Joanna came home with two Palm Branches, so I got some pics of Natalie waving hers. :)
James wanted in on the action too. (of course)
I’m sad to have missed Palm Sunday but happy 3/5ths of our little family got to enjoy and participate. I really love being able to experience all the parts of Holy Week. I think we’re going to try and all go the Maundy Thursday service tonight since it’s early. Matt and will have to flip for who gets to go tomorrow, since it doesn’t start until pretty much bedtime. :)
I hope you all are taking a moment to think about what this day was like, oh so many years ago. I have to remind myself in the day to day nausea, dirty diapers, and toy explosions, about the big stuff.
