James has NO IDEA what’s coming, but he’s going to be a big brother this fall!
Yup, the fourth Pence baby is due to arrive sometime in November, and we’re so excited!!!
Matt took this picture a week ago Sunday morning, when I was almost four weeks, though we didn’t know it yet.
So I guess I’ve decided that it’s not too much information to show a positive pregnancy test on the internet. :)
I took the test last Wednesday – whoo hoo!
During my pregnancy with James, I did (mostly) weekly updates, and I think I’ll plan to do the same with this one. I like having the information all in one spot. So without further ado… five weeks!
5 weeks
How Your Baby’s Growing (from Babycenter.com):
Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his organs and tissues.
How far along: 5 weeks
Pregnancy symptoms: nausea, the all day kind
Food Cravings: nothing yet, I think
Sleep: pretty good. I’ve had a cold since we found out I was pregnant, and that’s been kind of yucky.
Measurement: This is probably the point at which I should go buy a scale. :) I’m obviously not actually showing from this pregnancy, but I have to keep telling the girls that. I didn’t do a really excellent job of dropping the weight from James, so I have a head start on this one. :)
Movement: nothing yet
Labor signs: definitely nothing yet!
What I miss: nothing really. I don’t love being nauseated, but I am so very happy for the reason!
What I’m looking forward to: Pulling out my maternity clothes. Yes, I know the baby is the size of a sesame seed. I don’t see why that should matter. :) I’m also looking forward to spreading the news!
Milestone: Positive pregnancy test last week at 4 weeks + 2 days.
Thoughts from the children: The girls are VERY excited! Joanna is 6 and Natalie is 4; even Natalie is older than Joanna was with the last pregnancy. This is going to be very fun to share with them. James has no idea, poor kid.
Doctor’s visit: I had been thinking a lot since having James that I wanted to look into the local birth center with midwives, instead of doing the ObGyn/hospital thing. Well I called them last week, and they’re shutting down their practice. Boo! So that made the decision very easy for me. :) I really do like my doctor and the practice, I just love the idea of a more natural setting where I can just go home after having the baby. That said, none of my hospital experiences were bad, and I’m fine sticking with what I know. I keep forgetting to call my doctor and get going with everything though. :)
Looking back: Well, I’m not actually looking back, just thinking back. With Joanna, we tried to wait a few weeks, at least until we’d been to the doctor the first time, to tell people we were pregnant. That didn’t work, due to the serious morning all day sickness that made it very obvious. :) I’m pretty sure that we told everyone right away with Natalie and James.
Baby-related projects:
- Spread the news!
- Put away clothes as I run across them that I know I’m not going to be able to wear for a yearish. :)
Wow! That is great! Excited you guys.
