Interesting Global Parenting facts

Or I think so, anyway. I was reading in the most recent Parenting magazine, and I came across these bits of info I find interesting.
-Formula companies aren't allowed to advertise in India. I think that's fantastic. And I also love their whole "it takes a village" philosophy. I don't think I'll move there, though. :)
-In Israel, larger families are encouraged.
-The German government offers fantastic parental leave benefits, encouraging their shrinking population. 14 weeks paid maternity leave!! Whoa! Oh, and government-funded public day care -- wow.
-Discipline is apparently very lax in Brazil. Kids do what they want most of the time -- yikes!

That's all. I like reading about how other cultures parent. Not that we can't do pretty much what we want around here, which is nice.
