Miss Joanna had her second visit to the dentist today. She was a dream child, again!
She climbed right up into the chair, picked out her sunglasses, and then held so still for a long time while Miss Vicky cleaned her teeth.
It is just not fun to have all that stuff in your mouth, but she didn’t even fidget. She is unbelievable. Fortunately I was able to take her myself; Natalie stayed with Gran. It would have been okay to have Miss Natalie there (in hindsight) but it wouldn’t have been as enjoyable. Joanna listened and followed directions so well, I would have been able to chase Miss Natalie around. I’m glad I didn’t have to. :)
Look at those clean pearly whites! Today was her first time to have “tooth pictures” (x-rays) taken.
This is a picture from far away, where I was standing as to avoid any radiation messing with the baby brother.
I should have taken a picture of the little card thingies they put in her mouth. Guess what? They’re bigger than Joanna’s mouth. She’s so petite everywhere, including her tiny mouth. The hygienist had to bend them a little to make them fit!
Even so, Joanna was a trooper. Better than a trooper even. I wanted to give her money and chocolate I was so proud of her!
They took EIGHT films, and she held so still and did so well, none had to be reshot.
Then she got to play while they developed the films. Here she is holding a monkey and pushing buttons on a Gameboy. She didn’t want to leave!
And I took a picture of the x-rays! Doesn’t she have beautiful teeth skeletons?
It really was cool to see her six-year molars waiting to come in, as well as her row of permanent teeth above the baby teeth. Fortunately there isn’t anything missing or extra. :) And there are no cavities, even though she has a mouth that will likely be prone to them. Her teeth are so squished together in the back. Matt is doing SUCH a good job of flossing them every night though! Dr. Farrell mentioned he would probably be helping some of her baby teeth out when the time came, to give her permanent teeth more room/time/whatever to grow in.
Everyone commented on how good Joanna was at her appointment. Don’t you think they should give discounts for that? I mean, I’m sure she made their job easier! :)
You're so good...I didn't take pictures this time! I really liked Vicky, too. It was crazy to see all their other teeth under their baby ones. I guess it makes sense, but it was still odd to me!
ReplyDeleteGood job Joanna!!
