It seems a little crazy, but this is my sixth mother’s day. Whoa.
I got to sleep in this morning until 8:00 – yay! And Matt made my breakfast and brought me my pills in bed. :)
We were late to church (that’s what happens when I attempt to take a morning off) but the children got to go to most of Sunday school. We went to the 11:00 service with the girls, but left a bit early. It was confirmation, and as neat as that is to watch, we needed to get the littles home for some lunch and rest.
I crashed even before the children at nap time and slept almost 2 hours I think. I blame the neighbor dogs, who woke me up at 3:30 this morning with their yapping… right outside my freaking bedroom. They are sooooooooo on my list. Who even lets their stupid yapping dogs out of the house at 3:00 in the morning anyway?!!! Okay, rant over. :)
Anyway… after naptime we headed over to Aunt Mindy’s and Uncle Steve’s house for some swimming and fajitas!
James and Kurt, having a conference:
There’s a grandfatherish kind of clock in the entryway, and as soon as it started, Natalie just gazed up at it.
Snackin’
I am SO GLAD we took care of Junior for those three weeks back in March. James is soooooooo calm toward dogs now. In fact, I think Weensie got tired of him. :)
I dumped anything I thought we would need swim-wise into a laundry basket to bring over. James helped Matt bring it in from the car –
My attempt at a Mother’s day shot. I should have gone outside or something. Oh well.
James did NOT like swimming. Can you see the tear?
Joanna LOVES swimming! She actually hasn’t regressed much since last year. She absolutely cannot swim, but she does sink pretty slowly. She has no fear in the water, which is very scary, so of course I had hawk eyes on her.
Natalie and James both wore jackets so at least they’d float if they fell/jumped in. I had hawk eyes on them too.
That is, by the way, too many people to keep hawk eyes on. I’m tired. :)
James did not want to have one stinkin’ thing to do with the water, at least at first. He looked SO CUTE in his little jacket suit thing though!
The water was pretty cold, and Natalie’s little lips were turning blue and she was shivering. Mindy convinced her to get out and warm up. :)
James still would NOT get in the water, but he did reach down and touch it with his hands on a few occasions.
Mindy convinced Joanna to get out and warm up too. My little burrito girl!
Uncle Steve lured the girls in with a movie, and they snuggled up to watch it while dinner was being prepped.
So cozy!
We had fajitas and fixins and all kinds of yummy stuff to eat. Mmmmmmmm…
And for dessert, my ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!
Great American cookie cake. It’s comfort food for me. It just takes me back to some childhood birthdays. I have some in my kitchen right now. I wonder how many hours it will last?
Happy Mother’s day to all my mothers – we love you!!
I love these pictures! Such a good looking family we have!
