Joanna is SIX!!!

But not in these next three pictures.  In these next three pictures, she’s still five.

Before I left for Sola Gratia practice (and the grocery store) last night, I took the last few shots of my five year old!

She did this all on her own:

This morning I got up early because James’ new wake up time is 6am (boo!), but I had plenty of time to “make” cinnamon rolls (from a can).

When I got them all on the plate, they looked like a cake, so of course I put candles in them!

I really was going to let the girls sleep in, but at about 7:10 I decided it wouldn’t be any fun if we were all rushing around to get Joanna to school on time.  (They’re apparently doing Paper Mache this morning, and I didn’t want her to miss it!)

This is the first shot I got of my SIX year old!!

Then she covered up her head, so I told her I could eat her cinnamon roll.  That made her do this:

But it was very bright.

Yuuuuum!

James, Natalie, and I sang her “Happy Birthday.”  James was so excited all morning; he kept wanting to go wake her up to “say happy birthday to her.”

Singing… and smiling.

There’s nothing like having your family sing to you to get a real smile!

Blowing out six candles is more work than just five!

James is scootching over to help:

And he finished up for her.

It happened pretty fast, so I didn’t stop him from blowing all over our cinnamon rolls.  The good news is that he woke up FEVER FREE!!!!!! for the first time since Sunday, so I’m hoping he didn’t have anything horrible left to spread to us.  ‘Cause there was no way I was throwing those cinnamon rolls out!!

I had to take her to school, but I wish I could have kept her home to snuggle her all day!  Maybe with James feeling better I can catch up around the house and be able to snuggle her for a looooong time this afternoon.  James is still pretty grouchy and responds with “no” to all requests, BUT I can be a little more mean to him since I know he’s feeling better. :)  Here’s hoping he continues to feel better!
