Kittens and Kiddos

I also just published a new post on the cats' blog. Some of the pictures are the same, but it's a different post -- check it out! And I'm sure some of you are dying to have a kitten!! We think one is going to be adopted, but the rest are up for grabs.
We've started taking the kittens outside to play. They can move around, but they don't go far and we can catch 'em.
As soon as Joanna figured out the cat was there, she started looking at her through her legs. Funny girl. This is Janeway. She's VERY sweet. Joanna LOVES holding the kittens. Usually she's pretty good at it. She gets them under the belly with both hands. Often they end up tilting a little upside down though.
So sweet! On a different day, my friend Kathy from S. Carolina came over with her two boys and we took the kittens and the kiddos out to the back yard.
Joanna is unloading the basket of kittens:
The new stump in the backyard is a VERY fun thing to play on, FYI.
This is Sam. He's 7 weeks old, and REALLY cute and snuggly.
Josh and Joanna had a lot of fun on the stump. There was still some sawdust which was also very fun.

Josh loved the kittens, too. He caught on very quickly how to hold them carefully.
Joanna is observing Josh's form here, I think. :)
So sweet!
Sam didn't really play with the kittens. They didn't play with him, either.
This is Janeway in the back and Troi.
The kids kept bringing the cats back to the blanket when they would wander off. I can imagine it frustrated the kittens a little bit!
They were very curious about the big kids and the stump.
That's Kirk leading the way and Janeway.
Josh was leaping off the stump which is why he looks sort of odd here.
Troi is the most adventurous, I would say. She was the first to really walk and she usually explores the furthest. She's a bobtail calico.
It scares me a little bit that if I just squint my eyes, these kids look about 17 years old. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Sam loved being outside! (Natalie missed all this -- she was taking a nap.)
Dax spent the time snuggling up to Kathy back on the blanket, and Archer was snuggled up next to my leg for a little nap, so they didn't make it on this post!
Josh helped pack up the kitties in their almost-too-small basket for transport:
We had so much fun at our playday! So glad you Lewtons came over!!
