Natalie is 18 months old

P7112739

This post will be filled with facts about Natalie, age 18 months.  Including the fact that she is the perfect height to run into the corner of the dining table and get bruises like the one you see above.

Natalie has discovered the joy of removing her diapers.  Fortunately at this point, a little pair of shorts or bloomers under the dress is all it takes to keep her from yanking the velcro.  Unfortunately I forgot to put a pair of bloomers on her yesterday and we found a cute little pile of poop in her crib after naptime.  It felt a little like we had a dog.  Thank goodness it stayed in the pile if you know what I mean.

The girls love looking out this window, Natalie especially.  She still needs a little help to get up there (we have tall furniture), but her sister is usually very happy to grab her a stool or give her a hand.  Last week with all the rain, I got behind on laundry, but that didn’t stop Natalie from finding one of her favorite perches.

She’s obviously still very in to the thumb sucking.

She loves the princess chair, especially leaning back in it.  It’s also a perfect spot for using her laptop.

The rest of these pictures (including a couple above) are from today, her official 18 month day.  I’m hoping to have another “photo shoot” later after nap.  I’ll post any more that I get with her check-up stats tomorrow.

Natalie LOVES to rock.  She gets in this chair and says, “whee, whee” as she rocks.  It’s delightful.

As I was finishing up with my hair this morning, I had Matt take the girls outside and try to get a few shots.  He did a great job!

Oh, they’re so cute.  SO CUTE!

She LOVES to push the Dora backpack.  She loves it so much that I will probably be putting the diaper bag stuff in another bag pretty quick.  It slows us down.

Oh that face!

Anytime she sees the phone or anyone’s on it, she says please so she can talk too.  This is fine if we’re on the phone with a relative.  Not so fine if it’s the cable company.  :)

On the way home from church, chatting to Gran:

Natalie loves to dress up with hats, any that are laying around.  She often ends up with one of Matt’s caps on backwards.  The bill covers her eyes if it’s in the front.

More things about Natalie as they come to me.  Natalie…

-can say (or I can think of these things that she can say): juice, please, Joanna (sounds kind of like Zha Zha (you know, like Zha Zha Gabor), Mommy, Daddy, no, ball, baby, puppy (more like didi), kitty, more, oh, hi, bye, uh oh, choo choo, spoon, mine.  She’s also usually able to mimic anything you ask her to say, even if it doesn’t make it into her regular rotation of words.

-regularly uses these signs: more, please, milk

-is very good at giving kisses.  Often only wants to kiss Joanna.

-has made it clearly known that her favorite person in the universe is Joanna.

-eats peanut butter and jam sandwiches everyday.  She polishes off a whole sandwich, and our homemade bread makes big slices.  Did you hear that, Nana and Popo?  She really goes through your jam – loves it!

-is probably still scared of the doctor, though we’ll find out for sure tomorrow.

-Says “cheese” whenever you pull out the camera.

-loves her sister’s new bed.

-is still happily sleeping in the crib, although I finally took off the bumper.  She was beginning to stand on it.

-will often talk to herself for a while in the mornings, but cries like she’s being tortured after her nap.

-is grumpy in the afternoons.

-asks where her daddy is everyday.  “Daddy?” she says.

-shushes and sways the baby dolls.

-LOVES to sing.  LOVES LOVES to sing.  Her favorite is “Twinkle Twinkle” but she can sing a few others recognizably as well.

-also loves to play/hear music.

-climbs on the dining table.

-opens drawers.

-has defeated the child locks in the kitchen.

-says “no no no no no” a lot.

-has a little bit of a temper.

-gets into everything and moves fast.

-usually cries like I’m torturing her when I drop her off for nursery, starting way at the outside door.  They tell me this lasts as long as it takes the door to close.  Ha!

-calls her Gran “Daddy” too.  I think she really loves the feel of that name in her mouth.

-wears a dress every day.

-likes trains, calls them “choo choo.”

-still sucks her right thumb and puts her left thumb or finger into her belly button.

-is kind of obsessed with other people’s belly buttons, too.

-likes to kiss my belly.

-is getting pretty good at eating with a fork/spoon.  She calls them both “spoon.”  I think she may be ready when oatmeal season rolls around again.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if both my children liked eating oatmeal in the morning?

-is awake after a 30 minute nap.  Yuck.

-clearly does not know that 30 minutes is not a nap.

-is so loved by everyone around her.  We are blessed to have her in our lives!
