Hair and Singing

If you look closely you can see the ponytail Joanna gave James.

What a good life-size Barbie he is.  :)

This morning we brought all three kiddos to church at the 11:00 service.  I love having them all in there, even if it’s a little… ahem… hard.

The girls started coming to church with us pretty full-time when they were about 2 1/2 years old.  The nursery for the littles is wonderful – lots of playing and singing, but “Sunday school” at the 11:00 is less desirable, in my opinion.  Now, I try very hard not to complain about something I’m not willing to step up and fix, so instead I just don’t have my kiddos stay in Sunday school during the 11:00 hour!  Since James’ birthday is in October, though, he gets to stay in the nursery room (as opposed to 2 year old Sunday school) until he is almost 3.  That said, we’ll probably ease into having him in church with us over the spring and summer.  He really loves the singing and candles and everything.

And even though they fidget and talk and color and don’t seem to be paying one lick of attention to the service, I know they really are.  They’re taking it in, processing it, and it’s doing wonderful things to their little souls.

Being quiet during the sermon is hard though.  :)  He entertained himself by taking pictures of himself on my iPod for several minutes.  He loved it!

I’m very very glad we brought him today because the closing hymn was James’ very favorite Christmas song!  He LOOOOOOOOVES the chorus of Angels We Have Heard on High.  It is such a joy to hear him sing “Glooooooooooooooria, in Excelsis Deo” in his precious little two year old voice.

I love Advent and Christmas!  I’m a little sad tomorrow is Christmas eve.  (I’m also a little happy, so don’t worry.)

Merry Christmas!!
