More Puree

Sadly, I did not manage to take any pictures of my children today. :( But I did take some pictures of squash for you!
Today I cooked a butternut squash to puree and freeze for some dinners for Natalie.
First I cut it, scooped out the seeds and baked it:Once it was tender and then cooled off, I scooped out the flesh and put it in my Magic Bullet. I added a little water and pureed it until it was smooth and beautiful.
Then I froze it in ice cube trays. She just had some new food this weekend, so she won't get this stuff for another day or two. I'm really looking forward to when winter squash is in season. It's not so great right now so this is likely it for a few months. Summer is not the best time for new baby purees. Fall and winter is best. That's what I think anyway. Squash, sweet potatoes, apples... yum. There's lots of great fruit in season right now, but she's not eating most of it yet. Joanna's happy though!
Whoa, I've rambled about food. Done now.
We had a nice, relaxing day at home today. I really like Mondays for that. Joanna was so sweet and helpful to me all day! We did a little dishes, a little laundry, a little vacuuming, and a little chillin' on the couch. It was really nice. Back to the grind tomorrow. :)
I could not believe Joanna's nap today -- it was a solid 2 hours! Whoo hoo!! She did need the sleep, though. She went down quite late last night (our fault!) but woke up at her standard 6:30am. Glad she was able to catch up a little!
